A note to our clients:  During these uncertain economic times, it has been necessary for us to shorten our hours by closing at 6pm.  For those who need later appointment times, we will still make ourselves available until 8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  We may occasionally close the office on Wednesdays (this is Dr. Lisa's usual day off).  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.  We will do everything in our power to accomodate your veterinary needs and hope to return to normal business hours soon.

Dr. Lisa Shumate

Dr. Lisa wasn't born in Texas, but she got here as fast as she could!  Her family moved from Nebraska to Allen, Texas when she was in the eighth grade.

Fulfilling her childhood dreams, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.  Since that time, she has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in Flower Mound, College Station, Spring, Allen, Plano, Benbrook, and now Crowley, Texas.  Some of her professional interests are internal medicine, dentistry, and behavior.

She is married to TJ and has two step-children, Lauren and James.  She shares her home with six dogs, four cats, and four horses.  Her favorite past time is horseback riding.

Cristy lived in East Texas all of her life, until she moved to Burleson in Spring 2009.  She had previous experience working for a veterinarian in Whitehouse and absolutely loves all animals.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her own animals, attendingTexas Ranger games, and as many Texas Music Festivals as possible.

Angela moved to Texas from Idaho in January 1998 and has enjoyed every minute of living here. She has been in the veterinary medical field for the last 10 years and has been at Wags and Whiskers since October 2008.
In her free time she loves spending time with her friends, watching Dallas Stars hockey, and playing the drums.

Carey was born and raised in Crowley, Texas.   Fourteen days after graduating high school, she left Texas to pursue a career in the United States Army as a combat medic. She was stationed at Fort Hood and Camp Stanley in South Korea.  She also had the chance to live on base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia.  After being away from Texas for 10 years she decided it was time to come back home.

She has several animals of her own, all rescues of course!  They are a Cocker mix named Harleigh; Wednesday, a Boston Terrier; and three cats:  Haydin, Schmeagle, and Arwen.   She also has a 10 month old Blue Naped Amazon named RedRum.

In her spare time Carey is a co-director for a liturgical dance group with her church. There are thirteen girls ranging in age from 6 to 17 years.
